The holidays.. in B'burg.

Sorry, it's been a while since I last posted. I have gotten busy, lazy, and interested in different hands-on things.
I flat ironed Shane's hair.

I did some crocheting.

Christmas shopped for Shane's gift. An espresso machine.

And with a help from my new friend, Celia, I made sweet tamales.

In between all those activities I managed to buy (at the farmer's market) three little pumpkins and made several batches of empanadas. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of them to show you. But they turned out pretty good and people liked them.

Another craft I brought home...

From my "Mornings"group.
I messed it up, bad construction.... long story... so it fell down and made a yucky sticky mess. I had to start it over and by then most of the materials (candy, frosting...) became scarce. So I reused some materials and did the best I could given the circumstances. When I first brought it home, Shane almost tried to eat a piece! It looks yummy, but I wouldn't eat it...
So, it currently sits at our dining room table only for decor... And now, it occured to me to share it with the world before we burn it down.
I am too lazy to take good pictures with the camera, upload/download(?) and stuff, so instead I use the neat Mac feature Photobooth. Not the best quality but, you get the picture. (pun, not intended :) )

Last week an old friend from college was killed in a car accident. For those of you that live in Pasadena, I am sure you heard about it in the news. He was the driver of the red bug that was found right off the 134 freeway.
I feel saddened by the news. Especially for his family and my friends that knew him much more closely than I did.

I met David through Shelly, Jose and Monica. They all were a very tight bunch in college and in the many years afterward. When we first met, it was the beginning of a very crazy college year. I have interesting memories of that bunch! David was a star. After college, I saw him less frequently but it was always nice to see him. He was a real sweetheart and he was always fun to be around. It is unbelievable that he is gone. No matter how much I have seen the on-line newstories, the orbituary, the myspace announcements.... it is hard to believe.

His coworkers put up a wonderfulwebsite in his memory. His sister wrote a really nice biography.

Williamsburg

Not this weekend, but the weekend before this one that just passed, Shane and I went to Colonial Williamsburg.
It was cool.

I made this holiday wreath last week at my "Mornings" group.
The only fake parts are the red poinsettas, some gold leafs, and the ribbon (that is not counting the yarn, wires and paper used to hold it together...).
